Make a Difference

I was reading a fellow blogger's post about wearing red on Fridays to support our troops. Being very patriotic and very supportive of our military, I thought this was a great idea. I started posting about it right away and put up reminders every Friday about it.
I had never heard of this before, and I was sure that most of America hadn't either. So I made this "logo" here and asked to have it spread over the blogsphere by my fellow bloggers. I was thinking about other ways to get the message out, and then I decided to take it one step further. I had been looking for shirts to buy that expressed this idea and had a hard time finding them. So I decided to make my own shirts.
I am just an average person, but I want to do something extrodinary. I want to make the whole country red on Fridays. I want this idea to spread and grow until all of America knows about it and it becomes a national tradition. OK, so I'm aiming a little high here. This may have started a couple of years ago as an urban legend, but there's no reason that we can't all make it happen.
One person really can make a difference. It can start as a ripple and spread out. Please help me to start that ripple. Buy just one shirt and wear it on Fridays and make a difference.
You don't have to be outspoken, or boisterous, loud, or obvious. You don't have to stand on a street corner with a sign or march in a rally. You don't have to 'spread the word' to everyone.
All you have to do is Wear Red on Fridays to show your support for our troops.
Patriotism shows itself in many different ways. Some people go about their lives and don't make a big fuss. Others proclaim loudly and joyfully. And everyone else falls somewhere in between.
But we are all patriots, just waiting for our time to be called upon. Remember 911? Remember all the patriots who proudly came forth in support of this great nation of ours? How many flags did you count on houses on your street during that time? And how many more flags did you see flying from cars as they drove down the street?
Now is not the time to lie quietly and silently. Our troops are constantly on watch guarding our very lives. They stand guard at the edges of the world ready to do whatever is necessary to keep us safe here at home. They ask for nothing from us. But we can give them something. We can give them our support.
You don't have to be outspoken or a fierce patriot. All you have to do is Wear Red on Fridays.
